About Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA)

The mission of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency is to grow tourism and manage biodiversity to stimulate sustainable economic growth that is inclusive and creates decent employment. The objectives of the Agency are to provide for the sustainable management and promotion of tourism and nature conservation in the province, and to ensure the sustainable utilisation of natural resources. The Agency achieves this by: providing for effective management and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems within the province; developing and ensuring effective management of protected areas; fostering, promoting, and developing and marketing tourism sustainably; and promoting and creating socio-economic growth and transformation within the tourism and conservation industry, thereby creating economic and employment opportunities for previously disadvantaged individuals and local communities in the province.

  • Andover Nature Reserve: 06
  • Bushbuckridge Nature Reserve: 06
  • Mthethomusha Nature Reserve: 06
  • Songimvelo Nature Reserve: 06
  • Barberton Nature Reserve: 05
  • Mahushe Shongwe Nature Reserve: 06
  • Verloren Vallei Nature Reserve: 05
  • Nooitgedacht Dam Nature Reserve: 06
  • Mkhombo Dam Nature Reserve: 06
  • Mabusa Nature Reserve: 06
  • Loskop Dam Nature Reserve: 06
  • SS Skhosana Nature Reserve: 06
  • Sterkspruit Nature Reserve: 06
  • Ohrigstad Nature Reserve: 06
  • Mdala Nature Reserve: 06

QUALIFYING CRITERIA:

  • Unemployed South Africans between the ages of 18 and 35 years
  • Grade 12 qualification
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) and ID copy
  • Interest in outdoor work and practical tasks
  • Valid proof of residence
  • Residing in Mpumalanga Province
  • Not currently studying at any tertiary institution
  • Not registered for any other learnerships
  • Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in biodiversity conservation
  • Monitoring and removal of invasive vegetation
  • Assisting with various tasks including fires, rehabilitation, infrastructure maintenance, fauna and flora monitoring, plant propagation, and administration
  • Data collection
  • Community interaction for environmental education and awareness
  • Timely completion of assignments and practical experience
  • Attendance of training and support sessions
